Our History
Bill and Brenda Cowles headed west from New Hampshire with their three children in search of respite from severe allergies, landing in Wickenburg in 1976. Brenda's experience as an RN in skilled nursing and Bill's background in business were the perfect combination to establish a service caring for seniors. In 1979 they opened up their own home to a woman who needed more care than her family could give her, but was not yet ready to move to a nursing home. Thus, "My Father's House" was established. Over the next three years, several more residents were "adopted" into the family. In 1982 the whole family moved to the "Pohlman Ranch", taking on the name "My Father's Retirement Ranch". We have grown with accommodations for 20 in the Assisted Living Lodge, 34 Independent Living Garden Apartments, 4 Independent Living Ranchitos, and 4 Independent Living Casitas all with a variety of services available.
"We make the commitment to families and seniors to make every effort to create positive change in a resident's life." - Kevin Armstrong
