Bill and Brenda Cowles headed west from New Hampshire with their three children, Chip, Tyler, and Leah, in search of respite from severe allergies, landing in Wickenburg in 1976. Brenda's experience as an RN in skilled nursing and Bill's background in business were the perfect combination to establish a service caring for seniors. In 1979 they opened up their own home to a woman who needed more care than her family could give her, but was not yet ready to move to a nursing home. Thus, "My Father's House" was established. Over the course of the next three years, several more residents were "adopted" into the family, and in 1982 the whole family moved to the newly acquired "Pohlman Ranch", taking on the appropriate new name "My Father's Retirement Ranch". Celebrating 25 Years in 2004, we now have accommodations for 20 in the Assisted Living Main Lodge, 34 Independent Living Apartments and 4 totally independent Casitas with services available.

Community Profile – Wickenburg Sun October 2004

October of 2004 was an exciting time for us, as we celebrated 25 Years of business in the Wickenburg area. And, while we are proud of the service record of our outfit, as the next generation of the family takes the reins, we are committed to pursuing an ever-higher standard of service by offering a broader variety of living options, a wider selection of amenities, and higher level services to accommodate the needs of our changing community. With this goal in mind, we are saddled up to ride into the future with a three phase expansion to be implemented over the next 3-5 years, click here... We’re still family owned and operated - it’s just that the “young bucks” are riding herd now, so Brenda and I can ride a little easier. You might think of us as your trail guides on the journey into retirement. We look forward to the time when our paths cross with yours so we can ride into the sunset together!
